Hotel Lobby Food – an Innovative and Unique Trend in Hotel Dining

Hotel Lobby Food is a Fun Foodie Experience Guests Can Enjoy at Many Resorts

A number of hotels are now offering hotel lobby food, an innovative and unique foodie option in their lobbies (think a raw bar in Bimini, ceviche & tequila bar in Mexico,  or complimentary wine and cheese happy hour in Miami.) Check out the hotels below and see what they have in store for your lobby dining pleasure.

Learn How to Make Pastries at Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco Resort & Spa

Nestled on the hill of an expansive two-mile estate in the heart of Italy’s most beloved region, Tuscany, the Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco Resort & Spa overlooks the mountainous Serchio Valley, one of the most unexplored areas of Italy. Upon arrival to the property, guests can grab a bite or enjoy local home-made snacks like fried sage leaves at Nour Lounge, located right in the lobby. In addition, every Thursday in the lobby, guests can enjoy a pastry making demonstration presented by the resort’s pastisseur and every Friday, guests can start off their weekend with a wine tasting presented by local vintner Gabriele Da Prato.

Built from the foundation of the third oldest hotel in Miami Beach, The Julia pays homage to Miami’s heralded founder, Julia Tuttle, both through its name and its lobby design. The eclectic lobby was designed to motivate guests to mingle and interact with one another throughout the day with its family-style seating and complimentary wine and cheese happy hour, offered daily to guests. From 5 – 7 pm, guests can delight in a selection of Manchego, Gouda, and Brie cheese, grapes, crackers and olive bread, served along side a selection of Spanish wines, including Dibon NV Brut Reserve Cava, and Burgáns 2014 Albariño, among others for the remainder of 2017. Since the wines will rotate each quarter to highlight a different region, guests checking in during the first quarter of 2018 will be able to delight in wines from France.

On the Sea to Tasting the Sea at Playa Largo Resort & Spa

Just an hour’s drive from Miami along US-1’s sun-soaked highways, Playa Largo Resort & Spa welcomes guests in style – from pulling up in the breezy port cochere, to docking their yacht at the resort’s private marina. Upon entering Key Largo’s newest property, Playa Largo greets guests with gorgeous panoramic views of the Florida Bay. Designed to resemble a compass, the semi-circular lobby invites guests to stay a while offering the perfect swinging chairs for added comfort. The lobby is home to Las Olas Ceviche Bar, a lively Peruvian restaurant where travelers can enjoy fresh flounder, local grouper, tender octopus and Key West pink shrimp all cured in tropical citrus juices derived from nearby Homestead-grown fruits. Top off the experience by pairing the fresh ceviche with one of Playa Largo’s house-crafted cocktails, including a Lychee Sakerinha, Coconut Batida or a signature SUN-Gria.

A Mexican Fiesta at W Punta de Mita, Mexico

When travelers arrive at the new 119-room W Punta de Mita on Mexico’s coveted Riviera Nayarit, a fleet of Tuk Tuks decorated with images iconic to Mexican culture, such as luchador masks and candy skulls, transports them through layers of lush, tropical vegetation to the resort’s Welcome Area. Upon entering, guests step into a traditional Mexican fiesta, with whimsical sayings such as ‘Mexico es Amor’ etched walls made of tin ‘papel picado,’ and a collection of ‘munny’ statues — mythical creatures of the area’s indigenous Huichol natives, who traditionally used Peyote to inspire their art. Right at the center of the action, The Living Room bar hosts a weekly Mezcal Lab that includes sampling of selection of the resort’s 40+ signature cocktails, many of which use tequilas, mezcals and local ingredients such as worm salt. From here, a vibrant walkway made of more than 700,000 individual mosaic tiles with designs inspired by the Huichol tribe extends all the way to the Pacific Ocean, symbolizing the journey of life with waves crashing against the shore, surfers in the distance, and the glowing orange sunset setting the perfect backdrop.
