The Pod Restaurant is Having an Official Grand Re-Opening Saturday, Sept 30th
Yes, The Pod Restaurant is officially open for business. “What’s The Pod”, you ask? It’s a new American style eatery housed entirely in bright orange and blue shipping crates.
On Saturday, September 30th, 2017, The Pod Restaurant will open it’s doors to San Antonio residents for their official grand re-opening between the hours of 11am to 4pm. This slightly off-the-beaten-path spot practices a “Made from Scratch” approach from its ingredients to the 22 pod containers the new eatery operates in. “Everything from food, condiments and the space you’re sitting in is made from scratch and we want our customers to know they’re having a one of a kind experience every time” says Clifford Matthews, The Pod General Manager.
But wait, there’s more! It’s also a family friendly place that kids and their parents will love. So Mom and Dad, relax with a beer or craft cocktail from the bar then sit out back on the shaded patio while the kiddos play a game of soccer or use the fun play scape. And when everyone gets hungry – this is the good part – pick something from the varied and delicious menu put together by Chef Clifford Matthews on the scratch kitchen’s mesquite wood-burning grill. Go casual with choices like wings or burgers & Kennebec fries. They even have an American favorite, fried pickles.
Or you can go upscale with:
Farfalle Scampi Pasta with shrimp, sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms in a creamy sauce
Grilled Rib-eye Tacos with grilled onions, rice and a house made salsa
Grilled Salmon salad with mixed greens, capers, goat cheese and toasted pecans & almonds
Shrimp Ceviche with marinated shrimp mixed with mango, avocado, red onion, cucumber and lime served with fresh tostada shells and mango sauce
Shrimp tacos: three jumbo butterflied and fried shrimp, topped with slaw and guacamole with fresh corn tortillas, served with a side of grilled onions & spicy aioli
Pod Burger with a handmade patty, bacon, Munster cheese, guacamole, sunny side up egg, lettuce, tomato, red onion, homemade ketchup and lemon aioli
There is even a small yet sweet dessert menu to carry you into oblivion. The Texas Citrus Pie (most popular) is a twist on Key Lime Pie. It is made with a combination of lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit citrus. It comes in a graham cracker crust and is topped with flamed meringue. Or you can go simple like the kids with decadent cookies and vanilla ice cream.
But wait, there’s still more. When there are no kids in tote and it’s just adult time, you can head upstairs to The Pod sports bar. This is a place for a bucket of beer or Margaritas with friends or just for a fun date night. With both indoor and outdoor seating, this is the place to get your groove back. And with great bands adding live music for your enjoyment on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, you will want to linger a spell. Maybe even sway to the music.
And no matter where you sit or play, you will always be able to watch the game action on one of their many big screen TVs.
To bring in the re-opening for a good cause, The Pod is teaming up with Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA) to provide donations for abused and neglected children. Last year in Bexar County, there were 4,550 confirmed victims of child abuse. To support this cause, guests are encouraged to bring one donation item and receive a free dessert from The Pod. Donations include toiletries, hygiene products, toys and duffle bags or backpacks. For more information on CASA visit: http://www.casa-satx.org
