Texas Wood Fired Bistro does an Upscale Lunch for Culinaria
Boudros, a Texas wood fired Bistro located at 421 E Commerce St. on San Antonio’s famous River Walk, is known for its delicious Southwest cuisine. At Boudros you don’t just eat, you eat really well. From the Prickly Pear Margaritas and tableside prepared guacamole to the fire-grilled Angus filet and lobster tail, everything here is worth the trip. Executive Chef Robbie Nowlin brings the taste of the southwest up front and center in everything he cooks.
Boudros is doing both lunch and dinner for Culinaria’s Restaurant Week and no matter which one you stop in to try, you will get big, bold flavors of fresh local ingredients as well as wood fired cuisine.
Choice of Starter included:
Watermelon-Heirloom Tomato Salad with frisse and candied almonds, Kalamata olives, shaved radish, pickled red onions, feta cheese all dressed with a sweet onion dressing.
Or,
Cantelope Gazpacho with Vanilla Creme Fraiche
I decided on the chilled soup on this warm and humid day and it was a perfect starter. Cool, fruity and light making it a refreshing beginning to the meal.
Entree:
EVOO Poached Atlantic Salmon served atop green lentils, crisp Haircot Verts and finished with a spiced red wine sauce. A perfect light lunch entree that fills you up but doesn’t overdo. And the wine sauce was something I wanted to lick off the plate. Yes, it was that good!
Dessert:
Caramelized White Chocolate Tart with Macerated Cherries, candied Pistachios and whipped cream.
This dessert was so different from anything I had tasted before. It was almost like a thick Leche Quemada tart in a rich butter crust. I want more of this dessert. I love both the Pistachios and Macerated Cherries, but for me they almost got in the way of this wonderful tart. They did however make it pretty for my picture!
This three course meal is offered for only $15 and with each meal ordered, the restaurant will donate $1 from the lunch to Culinaria and the programs it supports.
