Italian Restaurant Pays Tribute to this Special Dish
This family-owned Italian restaurant, Little Italy Restaurant and Pizzeria located at 824 Afterglow St., San Antonio, TX 78216 will be participating in National Lasagna Day on Saturday, July 29th from 12pm-3pm with a dine in lunch special.
National Lasagna Day is all about appreciating the delicious dish and valuing not just its taste but its layers of history. When and why this celebration took place is unclear, however we do know that lasagna as we know it, made its debut in the middle ages in Naples, Italy. The first recipe found was in the early 14th century in the Liber de Coquina (The Book of Cookery). The idea can be traced back to when Rome overthrew Greece around 146 BC and began adopting their culture. The Greek had a dish called lagoon which consisted of flat dough sliced in strips with sauce.
San Antonio staple, Little Italy, a family owned restaurant and pizzeria that has been serving for 34 years, invites locals to celebrate National Lasagna Day during lunch. Little Italy will offer their homemade lasagna, a recipe passed down through generations. Diners who order Little Italy’s lasagna during lunch on July 29th will receive a complimentary desert of their choice.
The lasagna is created with three layers of rich pasta sheets, with your choice of perfectly seasoned ground beef or spinach, mozzarella, ricotta, and a bold marinara sauce that is like no other.
The history of Little Italy is just as amazing as that of lasagna, making celebrating National Lasagna not just a day to eat lasagna, but an opportunity have an authentic dining experience. With every member taking great pride in their family recipese, they are determined to not just satisfy your taste buds, but create an atmosphere in which you feel welcomed and comfortable.
Little Italy is open for lunch from 11am to 3pm and for dinner from 5pm to 11pm Monday through Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 11pm.
