New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc has a Clean, Fresh, Citrusy Taste

New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc from Crowded House is Pleasing to the Palate

New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc 2015 from Crowded House winery is a prime example of the great wines to come out of this region.

Sauvignon Blanc is a grape originally associated with the Loire Valley in France. However since the late 20th Century, Marlborough, at the northern tip of New Zealand’s South Island has become one of the top growing regions for this grape. Marlborough with its sunny, dry climate has become New Zealand’s top wine region with three quarters of all their wines produced there. And the Sauvignon Blanc grape is their claim to wine fame. The sunny, dry autumn gives the grape a long growing season giving it time to fully develop without losing its acidity. Thanks to the 2015 summer drought in Marlborough, there was a low crop yield for the Savuignon Blanc grape but what was produced had a great concentration of flavor.

I like Sauvignon Blanc wines because of their clean, tropical and green fruit tastes. These wines are straightforward with flavors that stand out with every sip. There is no holding back on taste.

The Crowded House Sauvignon Blanc 2015 has a freshness typical to this grape. Notes of citrus fruit and fresh harvested herbs make this wine pleasing to the palate. It is both light and crisp, expressing vibrant fruit flavors true to Marlborough and perfect for an alfresco lunch or dinner. This wine is simple and delicious delivering exactly what you expect from a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.

Crowded House 2015 Sauvignon Blanc pairs best with salads and fresh vegetables, especially asparagus. In addition it makes a great wine for delicate seafood and a great contrast to Asian food.

Small estates like Catalina SoundsCrowded House, and Nanny Goat harvest exceptional fruit and craft beautiful wines with minimal intervention that remain pure and true to this natural place, Marlborough New Zealand, from which they come.

With a SRP of $12.95 this lively wine is a terrific value for any table needing a fresh, bright white wine.
