Quiet American Mexican Restaurant is Causing a Stir with Crafted Sliders, Tacos and Sangria
Sangria on the Burg may be a quiet American Mexican restaurant in San Antonio’s outskirts, but it won’t be unknown for long. Located at 5115 Fredericksburg Rd. in the Medical Center area, Sangria is becoming known for it’s Texas BBQ flavored with Mexican spices and served with house crafted cocktails, Sangrias and local craft beer.
The menu is small yet filled with tasty choices. Hearty soups like Texas Chili served with poblano cheddar cornbread and greens like BBQ Chicken Cobb Salad or a Brisket Salad with spinach, strawberry, candied almonds, blue cheese and agave-dijon vinaigrette will not just start you off but will fill you up.
Sliders are ample with two to a plate, coming with a choice of house salad or grilled veggies marinated with seasoned garlic-olive oil and grilled over a wood grill giving off loads of flavor. Or try the house fries cause they are crunchy awesome. I liked the Texas Slider with fresh ground beef, bacon, cheddar, onion strings and BBQ sauce. The slider meats are ground fresh in house and served on either wheat or white slider buns baked fresh daily from The Bread Box.
Their Tacos are two to an order and wrapped in house-made corn tortillas. Or wrap them lettuce for a healthier version. The Fish Tacos are panko breaded fresh catch of the day with a pineapple slaw, avocado and roasted poblano aioli. Served with a house salad or grilled veggies you will leave quite satisfied.
Need something more to fill you up? Try one of their other add-ons like Triple Mac & Cheese, Charred Corn or Sausage Charra Beans.
Don’t leave without trying one of their crafted sangaris or margaritas. I had the Jameson Ginger with white wine, ginger syrup, pineapple, orange, ginger ale and Jameson Irish Whiskey. I’m a whiskey fan and this drink was muy bueno for a refreshing treat after work.
Their food is sourced locally and crafted with love!
