Erik Sanden is a musician and songwriter currently living in Texas. He has written hundreds of songs, performing many with his band Buttercup, which NPR calls “jangly art rock for the left side of the brain.” He has opened up for Jonathan Richman, Elliott Smith, Rhett Miller, The Apples in Stereo, Ben Kweller, The Tragically Hip, and Willie Nelson. He has collaborated on art performance pieces with artists Julia Barbosa Landois and Chris Sauter that have shown in Germany, Hungary, Canada and the United States. He is currently finishing up new records with both Buttercup and its side project, Demitasse, both slated to be released in 2016. Buttercup’s recent “movable feast of sights and sounds”, “Mystical Journey” at The Majestic, was also defined as follows: “In a moment that few have witnessed, a scene that is storybook and rare, a band comprised of audience members and a few talented musicians came together under the bright lights of the Majestic Theater and absolutely killed it.”
Micheal J. & The Foxes is the country side project of Deer Vibes’ frontman, Michael Carrillo. His song “Hotel Lobby” won best song in the San Antonio Current’s San Antonio Music Awards 2015; showcasing his musicianship and talent for storytelling. Michael Carrillo is also the owner of the newly opened wine/beer riverside bar located on the Museum Reach, Ventura.
Period Modern is turning their gallery of beautiful vintage mid-century designed furniture into a stage for this extraordinary collaborative experience. After the Period Modern performance, Downstream guests will be welcomed at Ventura, which will offer a complimentary beverage, drink specials, live music and a relaxed riverside patio to complete the evening.
The Brooklynite will be mixing the cocktails with liquor donated by SVEDKA Vodka/SVEDKA Cucumber Lime/Casa Noble Crystal Tequila. Plus there will be wine and beer.
The artists and venue are graciously donating their talents and space, with 100% of the evening’s proceeds benefiting the San Antonio River Foundation, whose Mission is to enhance the San Antonio River Basin as a vibrant cultural, educational, ecological, and recreational experience.
