Just Mayo is a Healthier Mayo to Use in all Your Recipes that Call for Mayo

Just Mayo is creating a stir in the food industry! Changing the paradigm of anything is never easy. In fact change of anything is probably one of  the hardest things for most of us humans to do. We are familiar with the things we grew up with and even though new may be better, we still cling to the familiar far longer than we probably should. The food industry is certainly no different. That’s why the foods we grew up with are called comfort foods. We are accustomed to their tastes, textures and how to cook them. Plus they do bring back good childhood memories which make us feel warm and cozy.

But as a whole, we humans are also about change and progress. And now-a-days we are also about sustainable, clean eating and healthier foods. As a food writer for many years, I have seen many changes in the foods we are now seeing on the menus at restaurants. There is gluten-free, sugar-free, soy-free and vegan just to name a few. I am also seeing many new progressive restaurants which grow some of their own foods, or use products from local markets, farms and ranches. I have seen a trend toward hormone-free & antibiotic-free meats & dairy in my local grocery store and an increase in preservative free or wholly plant-based products.

Just Mayo is one of those wholly plant-based products. It is a mayonnaise re-invention so to speak, which uses plant based proteins instead of eggs. Just Mayo is more than a condiment, it is something that makes your body feel good with less cholesterol but still tastes good. Just Mayo is a cost effective healthier food choice.

Just Mayo

Just Mayo comes in several flavors, Original, Chipotle, Sriracha, Garlic, Just Mayo Awesomesauce, and Just Thousand (similar to Thousand Island dressing). You can use Just Mayo in any recipe you would normally use regular Mayonnaise because it tastes and binds like Mayonnaise. I tried the Original, Chipotle, Awesomesauce and Just Thousand and found them all to be very good. I could not tell the difference between Just Mayo Original and my regular Mayonnaise brand. And I liked the three other flavors a lot. The Awesomesauce tasted just like Tartar Sauce and the Just Thousand works well on salads. With a little experimenting, I am sure I can find many uses for all four flavors.

I have included some recipes I made using Just Mayo. Give them a try using the product and see what you think.

Deviled Eggs with a Kick

Just Mayo


6 hard-boiled eggs, peeled

3 Tbs. Chipotle Just Mayo

1 Tbs. Dijon mustard

2 Tbs. minced shallots

2 Tbs. pickle relish



HEB Jalapeno Sweet Balsamic Reduction or minced jalapenos


1) Cut  the  eggs  lengthwise.  Remove  the  yolks  and  reserve  them  in  a   medium  bowl.

2) Arrange  the  egg  white  halves  on  a  tray,  cover,  and  store  in  fridge.

3) Mash  the  yolks  until  the  crumbles  start  to  smooth  out.

4) Add  the  Just  Mayo  Chipotle,  mustard, shallot,  and  pickle relish to  the  yolks.  Fold  together  until  creamy  and  smooth.

5) Chill  the  mixture  for  10  minutes  to  let  it  set.

6) Fill each  egg  white  half  with egg yolk mixture

7) Sprinkle with paprika

8) Top each egg with about a 1/4 tsp. of the Jalapeno Sweet Balsamic Reduction

Prep  time:  30  minutes

Cook  time:  15  minutes

Shrimp and Lobster Salad

Just Mayo


1 lb shrimp & 2 small lobster tails, boiled in a shrimp or crab boil until they just turn pink. Drain and rinse.

½ cup Just Mayo original

¼ cup non-fat Greek yogurt

¾ tbsp. Dijon mustard

¾ cup celery, diced

3 tbsp. scallions, chopped


Chopped dill


1) Dice the shrimp & lobster into 1/4-inch pieces and put it in a large bowl in the fridge to chill.

2) In a medium bowl, mix together the Just Mayo original, yogurt and mustard. Put the bowl in the fridge for about 10 minutes to let the flavors meld.

3) Drizzle the dressing over the shrimp & lobster and stir.

4) Fold in the celery and scallions.

5) Store the salad in the fridge and serve chilled with crackers.

6) Sprinkle with dill before serving

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 30 minutes

Servings: 6

Catfish with Just Mayo Awesomesauce

I also used the the Just Mayo Awesomesauce in place of my usual tartar sauce with fried catfish. It worked beautifully and tasted the same as the tartar sauce I make from scratch with Mayonnaise.
