Chef Brenton’s Seared Duck
Fine Wine Retail Winery and Restaurant in One
Don’t be fooled by the name, not only can you purchase a bottle of wine in an array of price ranges, but you can also enjoy a tantalizing Mediterranean based menu with Spanish influence. Chef Brenton Childs and Owner Ricardo Ramos have turned this eclectic restaurant into a well-rounded delicacy.
Alberico’s has private dining for special occasions accommodating 20 people. Located in historical Olmos Park, it’s very easily accessible with plenty of parking. The owner, chef and hostess strive to make your dining experience impeccable.
Our meal started off with a nice spicy, smooth and sweet glass of a 2010 Giovanni Syrah. This wine has a subtle oaky flavor and goes well with just about anything. It was served with oysters on the half shell, house made bread, sliced tomatoes, and arugula.
Duck can be challenging for chef’s to master, however, Chef Brenton’s seared duck was delectable. Served over chopped brussel sprouts with loads of bacon! Absolutely mouthwatering and prepared to perfection.
The smoked salmon with balsamic vinaigrette, arugula, tomatoes, and avocado virtually melts in your mouth. Combined with the house made bread or simply eaten alone, either way it’s delicious!
Last, but not least, the dessert! Vanilla and Chocolate Crème Brulee made in house and full of flavor. I’ve had plenty of vanilla crème brulee in my day and Alberico’s is at the top of the list! The chocolate was unimaginable and unlike anything I’ve ever had. They were both smooth, succulent and left you wanting more!
