TEXAS MONTHLY BRINGS ITS FIRE & SMOKE SERIES TO SAN ANTONIO
TMBBQ, Texas Monthly’s franchise devoted to all things barbecue, will roll into San Antonio Sunday, March 6th, as part of its Fire & Smoke series.
Fire & Smoke returns in its second year to celebrate the diversity of dining in Texas and the state’s great love of barbecue by bringing together one celebrated chef and one acclaimed pitmaster for an unforgettable evening of culinary matchmaking. The San Antonio affair—which will commence on Sunday, March 6th at 6 p.m. at Supper at Hotel Emma (136 E Grayson St, (210) 448-8300)—will combine the talents of two of San Antonio’s finest: acclaimed chef John Brand, of Supper at Hotel Emma, and pitmaster Tim Rattray of The Granary ‘Cue & Brew, one of Texas Monthly’s Top 50 BBQ joints in the state, as anointed in the May 2013 issue of Texas Monthly.
The exclusive reception embellished with the latest model Porsche vehicles, will open the evening with hand-crafted El Mayor Tequila cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Guests will then be treated to a multicourse gourmet dinner—conceptualized and executed by Brand and Rattray, with the former bringing the “fire” and the latter the “smoke.” The culinary creations will feature locally-raised beef from 44 Farms, fusing together the diverse food cultures of Texas. Guests will mix and mingle with Texas Monthly’s BBQ editor, Daniel Vaughn.
