Upscale Bowling, Great Food and Superior Service!
Bowl and Barrel is not your average bowling alley. It’s the kind of place you could literally hang out there all day, because it’s spotless, has tasty finger foods, and awesome drinks for adults and kids! Bowl and Barrel is a nice family spot with colorful bowling balls and wait staff on standby to service individuals or parties. In fact I made plans to book a bowling party before the end of the year. Bowl and Barrel is right next to The General Public and owned by the same people, however they opened prior to The General Public. In fact, the owners were out looking for a nice bowling spot one night and everywhere they went didn’t quite meet their standards, and they knew they could do it better.
The Hot Fried Quail made me totally forget about chicken wings, these little things are fried in chickpea flour and served with cayenne ranch dip. They are so easy to pop in your mouth even with the bones. They were hot and had just the right spicy kick without being too spicy for those who don’t like spicy food.
The Devils on Horseback were absolutely delicious, they are blue cheese stuffed medjool dates and bacon. Just a creation B&B came up with to draw you in. The bacon flavor combined with the blue cheese is unlike anything I’ve ever tasted, and it was very juicy and kind of greasy, but I just licked and wiped my hands and problem solved!
Green is a board with assorted veggies and whether you’re a vegetarian or not this tray is delicious, refreshing, and all around tasty! This is something light if you’re planning on eating later, or just want something to munch on without overdoing it.
We also had the Foreign & Domestic board with an assortment of cheeses, honey, and fruit chutney, (a condiment made of fruits or vegetables with vinegar, spices, and sugar, originating in India). A full-bodied and all around richer flavors than the Green board, however if you’re looking for more substance this is the better choice.
For the carnivore, please try the Butcher Shop, which has all sorts of cured hams, baguettes, pickles and mustards if you want to make a small sandwich. The ham was fresh, tender, and almost melts in your mouth. Although this board comes with baguettes you can nibble on the ham and pickles without all the starches if you choose to.
The Burgers in a bag is a compact burger and fry combo designed to grab and go so you’re ready to bowl when it’s your turn. The burgers come with crispy fries.
The Dog Pile consists of 6 mini butcher shop dogs with ketchup and mustard served on fresh bread from the breadbox, (a local bread maker). The bread melts in your mouth and tastes just like it came out of the oven.
Last but not least, this place is so spectacular they only offer one dessert. This dessert is so good they only need one. The BUTTERSCOTCH PIE is a sweet vanilla cream, sea salt caramel and ginger snap crumble. It has a pumpkin pie texture and it’s served cool.
We tried several drinks, the Old Fashioned (six year bourbon with orange zest and demerara syrup). This made me feel like I was sitting in front of the fireplace after coming off the slopes in the Alps. The Barrel Mule (Deep Eddy Vodka with Ginger Beer and Lime Juice), this drink has the holiday flare you’re looking for and would be perfect for that Christmas bowling party you’re going to book. Last not least, the French Kiss (Prosecco, Lemon Juice, and House-Made Grenadine), and it tastes just like it sounds, because it make you feel all warm and fuzzy just like you just finished kissing your true love for the first time. It makes your lips pucker after you take one sip!
