First Hyatt Place Built in the Nation’s Capital Turned One Year Old in June
June 26th marked the one year anniversary of the opening of the first Hyatt Place in downtown Washington, DC. Built just north of the US Capitol and located in the trendy North of Massachusetts Avenue (NoMa) area, this boutique style hotel is one of over 100 hotels throughout the United States and Canada (including 17 hotels in the Washington DC area) managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts.
“To celebrate our hotel’s ‘birthday’ we are actually giving our guests a gift to celebrate the occasion with us,” said Ryan Cimei, hotel General Manager. Starting June 26th, through the end of August, the hotel will be offering a birthday celebration two night package that includes a $25 VISA gift card. To check availability, travelers may check online or call (202) 289-5599 and give offer code BDAY15 for the Gift Card Package.
In just one year there has been tremendous growth for the hotel and its surrounding NoMa district. “It’s so exciting to see the area come alive,” said Cimei. “With a great location just two blocks from Metrorail and close to many leading corporate offices and key government agencies such as the ATF, the NoMa district with its chic vibe, truly pairs well with the feel of our hotel.” This pairing has made the hotel the ‘go to area’ for tourists that want to be close to all the world renowned Washington, DC attractions and businesses, while immersing themselves in a location that makes them actually fell like locals – even if it’s just for a few days.
The NoMa district has continued to expand with more restaurants, stores and even an upcoming beer garden. The growth of the historic Union Market, an authentic artisanal marketplace, gives hotel guests a place to meet and mingle with locals. The year round indoor market features 40 local artists, food vendors, live entrainment and so much more and is just steps from the Hyatt Place.
The Hyatt Place team is proud to be an active member of this growing community. Representatives from the hotel have taken leadership roles in various neighborhood initiatives and local boards such as the NoMa Business Development District. “We feel it’s crucial to be an active member of the local community,” said Cimei. The hotel has given back to local charities to help with their fund raisers, participated in various ALS Ice Bucket Challenge donations and with its local Crescent operated hotels, helped collect over 1,300 toys for local kids by partnering with Toys For Tots.
As the hotel starts its second year in NoMa, the team looks forward to continuing to be a leader and good neighbor in its new found home.
