Castroville Invites You to Shop the New Farmer’s Market Opening July 11th
I can remember growing up when summers meant stopping by the local “Fruit Stands” around my small hometown in south Texas and picking up fresh produce. If we were REALLY lucky that day, we could get fresh local honey, fresh made jellies and preserves and maybe even some homemade tamales. But then I grew up, moved to the big city and started depending on large grocery stores to supply my food.
Of course there are many items at my local H-E-B and I have become accustomed to the convenience and ease of buying what I need (and don’t always need). But I always miss the taste of fresh produce. You can’t get it fresher than buying it directly from the local farmers and ranchers unless you pull it out of the ground yourself!
So I am excited to tell you about a new Farmer’s Market opening up in July in Castroville. It is called the Saturday Farmer’s Market because starting Saturday, July 11 and every Saturday thereafter, you will be able to buy fresh goods from local farmers, ranchers and food vendors.
This market is being hosted by several Castroville businesses and you will find things like; fresh produce, fresh chicken & duck eggs, raw almond milk, raw peanut and almond butter, fresh herbs. grass-fed longhorn meat, exotic veggies, fresh juices and more.
There will also be local artisan crafts to browse through as well, so this is a perfect place to spend time on a lazy summer Saturday. Be sure to stop in for lunch at one of the local eateries while in Castroville too. Among other things, you will find some of the best Alsatian food in Texas.
